Muay Thai Kickboxing at Optimus BJJ Academy

The Optimus Muay Thai Kickboxing Program is headed by coach Jody Carter. Muay Thai is the “Art of Eight Limbs” because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight “points of contact,” as opposed to “two points” (fists) in boxing and “four points” (hands and feet) used in combat sports such as kickboxing. This rigorous program builds powerful self defense skills and burns up to 800 calories per hour.

Muay Thai is an essential component in MMA (mixed martial arts) training and competition. A top competitor, Jody helps our Optimus students reach their goals, whether self defense or becoming a pro fighter.
