Winter Rank promotion: A day of acknowledgment and community
Congratulations to all our jiu-jitsu students on their new rank promotions! On Saturday, March 14th, our community gathered for our annual Winter Rank Promotion, featuring a world-class seminar and a milestone ceremony for both our youth and adult programs.
Mastering the Butterfly Guard
The day kicked off with an incredible masterclass led by Professor Tinguinha. Focusing on the Butterfly Guard, Professor Tinguinha guided students through the essential control ties, demonstrating how solid positioning makes attacking effortless. Participants walked away with a deeper understanding of sweeps and submissions, adding a powerful new layer to their jiu-jitsu arsenal.
Celebrating the Journey
Following the seminar we moved into the rank promotion – a monumental moment reflecting months of hard work and personal growth.
- Youth Program: 16 Excited young athletes earn their new belt ranks.
- Adult Program: 5 students moved up, including:
- Blue Belt: Andrew Penkethman, Trevor Luebbers, and Ilya Eltsov
- Brown Belt: Kevin Nerison
- Black Belt: Professor Grant was awarded his 4th Degree!
