The Power of Goals

The power of goals: A goal is a dream with a deadline 

As we begin the New Year many are planning their year in hopes of attaining more wealth, better health, and a more developed character. Setting goals is the most important step toward achieving what you want in life. Walking through life without goals is like driving a car around without knowing where you are going. Below is the exact process for goal setting and creating a life you love:

  • Determine exactly what you desire; don’t be vague.
  • Determine exactly what you intend to do in order to get what you desire.
  • Establish an exact date for when you plan to achieve your goal.
  • Establish a definite plan for achieving your desire, and start at this very moment. 
  • Write out a clear statement of what you are going to acquire, the date you will acquire it by, and your specific, actionable plan for reaching the desired goal.
  • Twice daily read your written statement out loud to yourself. Do it once in the morning, and once at night. While you read the statement, visualize yourself executing your plan and see the successful end result.

As you aim for your next belt in BJJ and take disciplined steps towards that goal, you may realize that the practice of Jiu Jitsu is a blueprint for goal setting and achievement. Each day, there must be focused progress with the goal in mind. In the following weeks, we will be helping the kids in our Jiu-jitsu program set their goals. We will be asking them to write down or draw their goals for the year. We encourage all of our students, both young and old, to determine exactly what they want in life and to take disciplined steps to meet those goals. We are wishing everyone a smooth and prosperous 2026!
