World class Jiu-Jitsu seminar
We were honored to be able to host a world class jiu-jitsu seminar with multiple time world champion, Joao Miao. Professor Joao and his brother Paulo are renowned for their technical and progressive Jiu-Jitsu.
Not only is he a jiu-jitsu champion, he is an excellent teacher. He started the class with several inversion drills to warm up. He then treated the attendees to a master class on the Barataplata. The Barataplata is a shoulder lock submission made popular by Rafael ‘Barata’ Freitas. Since it’s discovery, Joao has been developing the submission, finding new ways to attack and set up the position. The class of mostly advanced jiu-jitsu players spent time drilling and trouble shooting the techniques. Professor Miao helped every one to understand the moves perfectly.
It was a pleasure to bring together the community of Orange County Jiu-Jitsu practitioners for a day of learning, and fun rolls. We look forward to many more world class jiu-jitsu seminars at the Optimus Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Laguna Niguel.
