Roberto Correa, “Gordo”, as he is known worldwide, has taught Jiu-Jitsu for over 20 years and is considered one of the legends of the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has taught some of the greatest champions in both Jiu-Jitsu and MMA including Celso Vinicius, Braga Neto, Rafael dos Anjos, Renato Babalu and Kyra Gracie.
Gordo is know as one of the early pioneers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is still developing and influencing the art today.
We are excited to host Gordo here in Laguna Niguel. We are expecting Jiu-Jitsu and martial art practitioners from all over Orange County including Laguna Beach, Dana Point and Aliso Veijo.
A resident of Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, he started jiu-jitsu in 1986, at the age of 15, influenced by one of his close friends Ralph Gracie. At 18 years old at purple belt, he suffered a serious knee injury and had to re-adapt his training and thus, developed the techniques for attacking for the Half Guard Position
Today, half guard is one of the fundemental positions in jiu-jitsu and MMA . In 1993, at age 22, he became black belt and won many national and international titles, devoting himself as a professional competitor.
Gordo brings a wealth of knowledge to share with the Optimus and TBJJ students. Make sure you are there so you can step up your Jiu Jitsu game!!!
