Our Jiu-Jitsu team takes gold at the legendary Pan Am’s. Every spring thousands of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes arrive in Orange County at the UCI Bren center to compete in the IBJJF Pan American Games. Recognized as one of the most sought after achievements in BJJ, the tournament attracts the best Jiu-Jitsu players from around the world. We are fortunate to be in Orange County and have the luxury of competing in our back yard. The Optimus BJJ Academy always has a good showing at Pan Am’s, this year was no different.
The fights got underway with Max Pender and Zach Wolivar winning their first several matches. Max is a white belt who has been on a rampage this year. He won several fights to secure the Gold. Next on deck was Ruben Granados of Bishop, CA. Ruben tore through four fierce competitors to win Pan Am Gold. Finally Coach Bryan Grebbin fought two very technical jiu-jitsu matches to win his sixth Pan American Gold.
Overall we had an impressive performance at this elite competition. We are proud of our team for their hard work and mastery of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Our jiu-jitsu system and professional instruction continue to produce champions on the world stage. We’re looking forward to many more victories in the future.
